Wal-Mart speeds up Supercentre expansionWal-Mart Canada will add 35 to 40 new Supercentres this year as it tries to gain a larger share of the grocery market. The additions will come through a combination of new stores, relocated stores, and expansion and remodeling of existing discount outlets. Wal-Mart opened 28 Supercentres in 2009, but some of the new stores this year will be much smaller than the company\'s standard 170,000 sq. ft. The smallest will be around 100,000 sq. ft., containing a grocery department of 15,000 sq. ft. Source: Canadian Grocer E-Newsletter, March 1, 2010
