McCain gives $1 million to fight hungerMcCain Foods has inked a deal with Food Banks of Canada that will see the New Brunswick-based food manufacturer donate a minimum of $1 million in cash and food over the next three years to programs that fight hunger. "As a leading food company, we believe we have an obligation to help feed the hungry," Fred Schaeffer, president and CEO of McCain Foods (Canada), said in a statement. "We have been doing that on a local level since we opened our first plant in 1957, and we believe we can have an even greater impact by partnering at the national level." McCain presented a cheque for $100,000 last week to kick off the partnership. Source: Canadian Grocer E-Newsletter, April 12, 2010
