Grocery Pioneer Steve Stavro Dies at 78Steve Stavro, the founder of Knob Hill Farms grocery chain and one-time owner of the Toronto Maple Leafs, has died at age 78—reportedly of a heart attack. A legend in the Canadian grocery industry, Stavro—known as "The Honest Grocer"—created a buzz in 1962 when he opened a 60,000-sq.-ft. Knob Hill Farms "food terminal" in Toronto. Stavro was a founding member of the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers and the recipient of the industry\'s most prestigious award—The Golden Pencil.
