Jean Coutu to Close Some Eckerd StoresThe Jean Coutu Group has announced plans to close 78 of its Eckerd outlets in the States. The stores, head of US operations Michel Coutu says, are losing money. Jean Coutu bought 1,549 Eckerd stores in 2004. The purchase positioned the Montreal-based company as North America's fourth-largest drugstore chain.
