Health Canada Looks to Clearer LabelsHealth Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency are responding to consumers who are confused by the statements about the possible presence of allergens in food. Health Canada said it is reviewing the labelling of items often associated with food allergies and allergic-type reactions. Food manufacturers, importers, distributors and retailers are being notified of the proposed changes. Proposed terms include "may contain..." or "Not suitable for consumption by persons with an allergy to..." Source: Canadian Grocer E-Newsletter, October 5, 2007.
