Empire Second-Quarter Profit IncreasesEmpire Co., the owner of Canada?s second-biggest supermarket chain, said second-quarter profit rose 13% as its Sobeys food stores benefitted from a lull in food-price competition among grocers. Net income increased to $65.7 million from $58.4 million a year earlier, the Stellarton, Nova Scotia-based retailer said in statement.
