This is an exciting opportunity to build a NEW category management team within a leading consumer packaged goods company
The Category Development Manager central role is to lead the category management team in the creation & delivery of fact based selling stories, assisting with promotional effectiveness and leading the customer plan-o-gram process. Outputs will consist of turn-key customer specific selling stories, promotional recommendations, and plan-o-grams to assist with the achievement of LSM guidelines and annual plans. The role requires a high level of analytical strength and an in-depth understanding of ACNielsen and use of Intactix pro/space software. Furthermore, the role will require an individual with people management experience. In addition, an understanding of Canadian customers' go-to-market strategies is also required in order to provide sound customer executable insights into 4P actions.
Key Priorities
·Establish & lead a new category management team. (4 direct reports)
·Lead the customer plan-o-gram process.
·Train key account managers on category management.
·Assist trade marketing managers in reviewing the effectiveness of promotions on key selling items.
Information & Understanding
·Provides analysis and facilitates execution in support of Category Management with key customers
·Performs high level, in depth analyses using syndicated data retrieval and provides conclusions (ie: insights into 4P actions)
·Measures performance and impact of initiatives
·Understands and applies Customer, Consumer and Industry insights using Nielsen Nitro, Nielsen Household Panel, Spectra, Nielsen.
·Utilizes company information systems such as Siebel, ProSpace, Proclarity, etc
·Conducts proactive business reviews identifying issues/opportunities/action
·Anticipates retailer reactions to New Product entries incorporating saturation vs. expansion forecasts
·Facilitates long term promotional planning with key customers
·Creates actionable planograms using Prospace.
Sales Planning
·Adapts knowledge of customer strategies to company strategy to optimize sales potential
·Communicates key customer plans/strategies with sales team to ensure full understanding of key customers' reasonable requirements
·Creates and delivers creative group / customer presentations to achieve incremental opportunities
Selling
·Seeks, creates and develops new business opportunities to build brand consumption
·Has authority and latitude to effectively negotiate with multi-functional resources both internally and externally
Merchandising/Category Management
·Makes strategic retail category management decisions.
·Recommends plan-o-grams that maximize sales growth and profits |
